Auto idle-stop shuts the engine off and won't restart itmajor
Auto idle-stop switches the engine off when you come to a halt and is meant to restart it as you lift off the brake. On the 2022, owners repeatedly report it not restarting: 'the auto idle stop did not restart the engine and the van stalled in traffic multiple times', with the owner's workaround being to switch the feature off every single drive. Others report the engine dying at a light with idle-stop supposedly not even enabled, and one describes the van putting itself into Park and shutting off when coming to a stop. Several report the battery being killed and replaced. Honda has acknowledged the same condition on later vans, asking dealers to inspect and collect parts from 2023 to 2025 Odysseys with 'a no auto re-start condition after going into an auto idle stop' — but that is an open investigation naming other model years, not a programme, and there is no recall on the 2022. Sit through a dozen stop-and-go cycles with the feature left on.
