What VinCanary is

VinCanary publishes free reliability reports for used cars, one model year at a time. Each report is built from federal complaint and recall data (NHTSA), manufacturer service bulletins and warranty programs, and what independent mechanics and owners actually report — including full video-transcript analysis.

Reports are free, with no email wall. If you’re watching a year or a specific VIN, we offer alerts when something changes — that’s how we keep the lights on.

The site also exposes a small set of read-only tools to AI agents, so an assistant you bring with you can look up a report directly instead of scraping the page. They only read what is already published, and they cannot submit anything. The standard behind them is WebMCP.

VinCanary is independent. We are not affiliated with any automaker or with NHTSA. Nobody pays us for a mention: when a report names a product or a service, it is because the sources did. Questions: hello@vincanary.com.
