Nine-speed shudder, still present past 70,000 milesmoderate
The 9T65 nine-speed automatic behaves here as it does on every second-generation year, just at lower volume. 'I noticed that the transmission has a shutter really bad before I crossed over a hundred thousand miles. It is gotten so bad that you cannot [drive it comfortably].' 'My transmission started acting up at 77,000 miles. Was struggling to accelerate. Brought in to chevy twice for it, could never locate issue.' 'Vehicle shudders during acceleration, especially between 20 to 40 mph. Chevy dealership recommended transmission flush. Problem persists.' 'The contact stated that while driving in first gear, the vehicle would independently enter limp [mode].' GM's documented answer is a service bulletin covering 2019 to 2024 providing 'a procedure to correct a customer concern of Shudders or Shakes at Low Speeds,' preceded on earlier years by Preliminary Information instructing technicians to 'perform a transmission fluid drain and fill to correct a TCC shudder concern.' TCC is the torque converter clutch, the part that locks the engine directly to the gearbox at speed. Behind all of it is GM's internal 9T65 Automatic Transmission Replacement Pilot Program bulletin, republished with scopes reaching 2024, which is a dealer process document and pays for nothing. No recall covers this. GM also ran a Customer Support Program on 2023 cars for a transmission case that 'leaks fluid due to porosity around a mount bolt hole,' remedied by replacing the case; that programme is written for the following model year, so it does not apply here, but it is worth knowing the case itself has a documented weakness.
