This program extends the warranty coverage of the automatic transmission torque converter for twelve (12) months from the RO date of Powertrain Control Module reflash under Customer Satisfaction Program 20B27.
Where this shows up in our reports
- 2016 Ford Explorer: Six-speed transmission — slipping, harsh shifts, and a program for 2.3L cars — The gen-5 automatic draws complaints of harsh jolts, slipping, and 'won't go into drive.' Ford runs Customer Support Program 20N07/20B27 for 2016-2019 Explorers with the 2.3L engine, extending transmission coverage and adding a powertrain-control-module reflash for the torque converter — with a further 12-month torque-converter warranty from the date of that reflash.
- 2017 Ford Explorer: Six-speed transmission — slipping, shudder, and scarce replacement parts — Ford's Customer Support Program 20N07/20B27 extends transmission coverage and adds a torque-converter reflash (plus a 12-month torque-converter warranty from the reflash) on 2.3L cars; V6 owners have less recourse.
- 2018 Ford Explorer: Transmission — reports thin, but the 2.3L program still applies — On 2.3L cars, Ford's Customer Support Program 20N07/20B27 still extends transmission coverage and adds a torque-converter reflash.
