Second-row seat-belt webbing guide — recall 21V-889major
Specific to 2022 Siennas 'equipped with seating for eight passengers'. Toyota found that an incorrect seat-belt webbing guide may have been fitted to the outboard second-row belt assemblies, and the consequence is precise: 'During seat belt pre-tensioner deployment, the incorrect webbing guide may damage the seat belt webbing, causing it to tear.' The pre-tensioner is the device that snatches the belt tight at the start of a crash — so this is a fault that only shows up at the worst possible moment. Dealers replace both outboard second-row belt assemblies free; Toyota's codes are 21TB08 and 21TA08 and owner letters went out on 10 January 2022. If the van you are looking at has eight seats, verify this one against the VIN specifically. Seven-seat vans with captain's chairs in the second row are not affected.
