Reliability report · 2023 Honda Accord · Updated July 2026

A promising 11th-gen restart — lots of recalls, mostly free, with the head-gasket question still open.

The 2023 launches the 11th generation with a genuinely refined two-motor hybrid system that a mechanic reviewer rates well above a conventional automatic or CVT. Early complaints are modest, and the long recall list is mostly software updates and covered replacements.

The caveats: a high-pressure fuel-pump recall (fire risk) and two hybrid recalls that can cause a loss of drive power are the items to verify closed, and technicians note the 1.5-liter turbo head-gasket problem may carry into this generation on both the turbo and hybrid engines — too early to quantify.

Canary status

Chirping

What that means: The first year of the 11th generation and a new hybrid system. Early complaint volume is modest — 78 on the gas Accord plus 139 on the hybrid — and there's a stack of recalls, but a technician's read is that most are software or covered replacements. The items with teeth are a high-pressure fuel-pump fire recall and two hybrid loss-of-drive-power recalls; whether the 1.5T's head-gasket habit follows into this generation is still too early to call.

High-pressure fuel pump can crack and leak fuel (recall)

major

Recall 24V-763 covers 2023–2024 Accord and Accord Hybrid (with CR-V Hybrid): the high-pressure fuel pump may crack and leak fuel, which near an ignition source is a fire risk. The remedy is a free inspection and pump replacement as needed. This is the safety item to confirm closed on any 2023, gas or hybrid.

Hybrid: loss of drive power (two recalls)major

Two hybrid recalls can each cause a loss of drive power. 23V-588 covers 2023 Accord Hybrid (and CR-V Hybrid) e-CVT transmissions that were improperly manufactured — the fix is a free e-CVT replacement. 25V-785 covers 2023–2025 Accord Hybrid where an integrated control-module software error can reset the CPU while driving — a free software reprogramming. On any 2023 hybrid, both should show completed.

Head gasket: too early to call, but watch itmoderate

Technicians report the head-gasket failure that plagued the 10th-generation 1.5-liter turbo appearing early on 11th-gen engines too — on both the 1.5T and the hybrid — while cautioning it's too soon to know if it becomes a VIN-based pattern. There's no program for it. Treat a cold-start misfire or a dropping coolant level as a real signal, and factor the generation's history into a high-mileage purchase.

Seat-frame and seat-belt recallsmoderate

Two more free fixes: 24V-859 (expanded by 26V-054) covers a driver's-seat cushion frame that may not have been tightened, leaving the seat unsecured, and 23V-782 covers a front seat-belt pretensioner that may be missing a securing rivet. Both are inspect-and-repair recalls; confirm they're closed.

Early-life electronics and steering noiseminor

Technicians flag a few new-car annoyances: infotainment control-unit software errors, and a clicking or binding noise when turning the steering wheel from a clearance issue in the steering gearbox (a bulletin item, not a recall). The hybrid's battery is air-cooled through a vent under the back seat — never block it, because a clogged vent overheats and shortens battery life. These are minor but worth checking.

There's been an abundance of recalls this generation — but most are covered under warranty, nothing out of pocket.
