Reliability report · 2022 Honda Accord · Updated July 2026

The best year of the 10th generation — mature, quiet, and nearly out of the head-gasket woods.

2022 is where the 10th-generation Accord reads like the Honda people expect: low complaint volume, a hybrid file that's genuinely quiet, and the 2.0-liter turbo at its most proven. The head-gasket failures that defined 2018–2019 are only a faint tail by now.

The one safety item with teeth is a VSA-modulator brake-fluid-leak recall that can cause unintended movement or a long pedal — a free fix to confirm. Otherwise this is a verify-the-recalls-and-enjoy-it year.

Canary status

Calm

What that means: The final 10th-generation year is the settled one: 211 gas plus 54 hybrid complaints, a very clean hybrid file, and no recall or warranty program aimed at the engine. The 1.5T head-gasket pattern is faint here, and the safety headline is a brake-system recall with a free fix.

Brake system: VSA modulator fluid leak (recall)

moderate

The 2022 Accord's headline safety item is recall 23V-430: a ball valve in the vehicle stability assist (VSA) modulator can leak brake fluid, which can cause unintended vehicle movement when the brake-hold feature is engaged or an unexpected increase in brake-pedal travel. The remedy is a free VSA-modulator replacement. This is the one item to confirm closed on any 2022.

1.5T head gasket — faint tail, still uncoveredmoderate

The generation's head-gasket pattern is only a faint presence by 2022 — the hybrid file still shows the occasional coolant-in-cylinders engine failure at high mileage — and there is still no recall or warranty extension for it. On a 1.5T, the same cheap checks apply: cold-start it, watch the coolant level, look for milky oil. The 2.0T remains the pattern-free engine.

A/C condenser — out of warrantymoderate

As with 2021, the 2022 sits outside the 2018–2020 A/C-condenser warranty extension, so a condenser refrigerant leak is now an out-of-pocket repair. Run the A/C hard on the test drive and price in any weakness.

Fuel-pump and airbag-sensor recallsmoderate

The 2022 is covered by the multi-year fuel-pump recall and the seat-weight-sensor airbag recall — both free fixes. Confirm they show completed by VIN.

What you no longer worry aboutminor

For clarity, by 2022 the loud launch-year items have largely resolved: the head-gasket wave has thinned, the fuel-pump impeller and BCM recalls of the early cars don't apply here, and the hybrid's active-noise-control droning is far less prominent in the file. This is the year to buy if you want the 10th-gen Accord without the 2018–2019 baggage.

By the last year of the generation they'd refined the kinks — this is the mature product.
