One of the quieter 10th-gen years — but the head gasket now costs you, coverage has run out.

By 2021 the Accord is quiet in the data, and a well-kept one is an easy car to own. But the 1.5-liter turbo head-gasket pattern hasn't fully disappeared — a hybrid owner in the file was quoted about $7,000 with the dealer conceding it's a known generational issue and no coverage to waive it.

Two coverage notes matter for 2021: it's outside the 2018–2020 A/C-condenser warranty extension, so a condenser leak is now out-of-pocket, and there's a small CVT driven-pulley update on a limited batch of cars. The 2.0T remains the head-gasket-free pick.

The head-gasket failure is much less common by 2021 but still present on the 1.5-liter turbo, and the economics are worse because coverage has run out: a hybrid owner in the complaint file was quoted around $7,000 with the dealer admitting a known generational problem and no recall to fall back on. Symptoms are unchanged — cold-start misfire, a coolant level that drops, potential limp mode. Cold-start the car, check the coolant, and prefer a 2.0T if the risk worries you.

A/C condenser leak — no longer coveredmoderate

The A/C condenser can still corrode and leak refrigerant, but 2021 falls outside Honda's 2018–2020 condenser warranty extension — so unlike the earlier years, this repair is now out-of-pocket. Test the A/C hard; a weak system on a 2021 is a real cost to negotiate, not a free fix.

Condenser replacement, out of warranty

Honda issued an owner notification for a small number of 2021 Accords whose CVT driven pulley wasn't properly hardened during manufacturing, which over time can lead to abnormal operation, slippage or noise. It affects a limited batch, but if a 2021 shows CVT slipping or unusual noise, check whether it's one of the notified cars. The 2.0T's 10-speed automatic isn't involved.

Fuel-pump and airbag-sensor recalls, seat-belt retractormoderate

The 2021 is covered by the multi-year fuel-pump recall, the seat-weight-sensor airbag recall, and a second-row center seat-belt automatic-locking-retractor recall that can leave a child restraint unsecured. All are free fixes; confirm they're closed by VIN.
