Ten-speed transmission control valve — rear wheels can lockmajor
The ten-speed's control valve wears and loses hydraulic pressure, producing harsh shifting, a service-engine-soon message, reduced performance and diagnostic code P0747. At worst it locks the rear wheels: one owner reports exactly that at freeway speeds, and another had the transmission fail into neutral with the override so stuck that dealership technicians could not release it. On the 2021 diesel this is safety recall 24V797, a free software update. On every 2021, GM's Special Coverage for the control valve runs fifteen years or 150,000 miles and pays for a new valve body. Feel for shudder and harsh shifts on the test-drive and ask whether the valve body has been done.
